Strengthening AI Competence

We develop digital tools that make artificial intelligence understandable and practical to use.
Our goal is to reduce uncertainties and build lasting competencies.

AI for Everyone

Artificial intelligence should not remain an expert topic for only a few.
Train-AI creates low-threshold access to modern technologies and promotes digital participation.

Promoting Sustainable Learning

We focus on collaborative learning formats and long-term competence development. Our approach combines technical understanding with social responsibility.

Project background

The educational landscape in Europe is undergoing profound transformation. Digital technologies – and in particular the use of artificial intelligence – are not only reshaping work processes, but also changing learning formats and the competence requirements of educators. Educational institutions are increasingly confronted with the challenge of integrating AI-supported tools into their practice in a responsible and pedagogically meaningful way. At the same time, there is still a lack of structured training opportunities, practice-oriented materials, and clear guidance for the sustainable educational use of artificial intelligence.

Especially in the field of adult education, a significant gap can be observed between technological development and methodological application competence. Many educators possess extensive subject expertise but have limited opportunities to systematically test AI applications or embed them into adaptive learning concepts. As a result, there is a growing need to develop solutions that connect digital innovation with pedagogical quality and inclusion.

Project Objectives

The core idea of Train-AI is to strengthen AI competences in adult education through the development of practice-oriented training formats, open educational resources, and supportive digital tools. Educators are to be empowered to use AI-supported applications in a pedagogically sound and informed manner.

More specifically, Train-AI aims to develop and pilot practical AI applications based on empirical findings. Furthermore, the project seeks to establish a European network that fosters exchange and enables sustainable cooperation in the field of AI and adult education. In the long term, the project aims to strengthen digital competences, broaden access to education, and promote innovative learning environments that respond to the demands of a rapidly evolving world of work and learning.

Project schedule

At the beginning of the project, a needs analysis is conducted in cooperation with the partner organisations in order to identify existing competence gaps, institutional challenges, and target group needs in the field of AI-supported adult education. Based on these findings, concepts and pedagogical guidelines are developed, which serve as the strategic foundation for the AI bots. In parallel, prototype AI-supported applications are created for exemplary use in training settings.

In the next phase, the developed materials and tools are tested and evaluated in pilot trainings. The results are incorporated into the optimisation of the content and subsequently made available as open educational resources. Finally, the project results are disseminated through digital channels, professional events, and partner networks to ensure sustainable use and further development of the approaches within European adult education.
